From Cradle to Paradise: Raising Muslim Children in the Modern World

Parenting is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences that one can have in their lifetime. As Muslim parents, we have a greater responsibility towards our children to raise them in a way that is pleasing to Allah and beneficial for them in both this world and the hereafter. In this chapter, we will explore th e importance of Islamic parenting, the role of parents in shaping a child's religious and moral values, and the significance of creating a nurturing and loving home environment. Allah (SWT) has mentioned in the Quran, “O you who have believed, protect your selves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded” (Surah AtTahrim 66:6). This verse highlights the importance of protecting ourselves and our families from the punishment of the hellfire. As parents, it is our duty to raise our children in a way that will protect them from the fire and lead them towards paradise.
